A bustling city filled with numerous races. A tentative coexistence shattered by a critical decision, a heinous crime, or a new restrictive law. Now, the delicate balance of life is at stake as tensions rise and suspicion grows. How could this have happened? Who can get to the bottom of this?
This challenge occurs in a land shaped by the Fantasy Race, Law, and Motive Gens.
Your task: write a story of at least 10,000 words by the end of the month, telling the tale of a detective, professional or otherwise, as they attempt to get to the bottom of the situation.
What unfortunate soul has ended up embroiled in this incident? What’s at stake for them?
Challenge Specs:
- Fantasy Race Gen (Unlimited rerolls): Use this to determine which fantasy races are involved. You can use as many as you like. Do they get along, or is there nothing but strife between them all?
- Law Gen (Unlimited rerolls): Use this to determine the laws of the land and the crime that was committed. Do they apply to one race, or to all? Ensure one or more oppose the traditions of at least one racial group.
- Motive Gen (Unlimited rerolls): Use this to determine the initial inciting incident. Did this incident occur because of something, or was it deliberately done for some reason?
For an additional challenge, try using these words or themes in your story: Remorsefulness and A Traitor
Craft a gripping crime tale in a world of sudden clashes between diverse races. Can you do it?
Submitting your story:
Be sure to include the generated results where possible so that we can see what you were working with. Please include a name with your story (real or a username) and age (or age range), and let me know if you’re happy for me to share/quote your story. (Your story belongs to you though; I’m not going to run off with it! :D)
You must mention whether your story is NSFW or includes sensitive themes, gore/violence, etc. Give your story an age rating if necessary!
