Now that we’re all refreshed and ready to go, what say we get cracking with this month’s Challenge, eh wot?
As I mentioned before, your character is the main force in the story. A great character in a poor plot is wasted potential, but a poor character in a great plot is unbearable on many levels. So, let’s focus a bit more on those characters. Sometimes a good character creates a great story all by themselves, with their details encouraging all sorts of interesting plot points and twists.
So for this challenge, we’ll be using the Quick Character Gen, as well as the Family, Job, Love Interest, City and Plot Device Gens.
The goal, is to write a short story of at least 10,000 words before the 30th of the month using the aforementioned Gens:
Quick Character Gen (Free Use): Use this Gen as a template for your characters. You may use as many as you like for main or secondary characters. You may ignore certain details from the generated results.
Family, Job, Love Interest, City and Plot Device. (Optional): Use these Gens to help flesh out your characters and come up with a storyline.
You can write as many stories as you wish in any genres that you choose.
Send your stories to RanGen HERE (please don’t send them as attachments; put the story in the body of the email), and write your name (it doesn’t need to be your real name) and “December Writing Challenge” in the subject line. If you’re having trouble sending long stories in one email, split it in two and clearly mark both as part 1 and part 2.
Alternatively, you can create a free account on Wattpad and submit your stories there. Don’t forget to send me the link!
Be sure to include with your story the results of all the generators!
