Love is in the air! Or is it?
This time around, you’ll be using the Love Interest and City Gens to turn the results into a short story of at least 10,000 words before the end of the month.
The theme of this month’s challenge is Helplessness. What can you do to incorporate that feeling into your story?
Love Interest Gen (Free use): Use this Gen to introduce a character who can be a potential love interest for your Main Character (or, a love interest for your Main Character’s existing love interest! A Love Rival, if you will). They can be someone new, or someone your character has known for a while.
City Gen (Free use): Use this Gen to produce a specific location for your story. It can be used as the primary location, a city visited in passing, or a city they are trying to get to.
The challenge specifications are as follows:
Non-restricted use: Roll as many times as you like.
- Do not mix and match results from different rolls.
- Do not change the results.
- You may ignore some generated details but must use a reasonable amount of the rest.
- You may add additional details as you like.
- You can use the Simple or Detailed option where applicable. Choose whatever options you like.
- You can use results from any other Gen as you like.
- You can also use results from any other Gen as you wish, as long as they don’t change your existing details. Existing details from these Gens override details from additional Gens.
With these settings, can you write a story based on your results?
Submitting your story:
Be sure to include the generated results where possible so that we can see what you were working with. Please include a name with your story (real or a username) and age (or age range), and let me know if you’re happy for me to share/quote your story. (Your story belongs to you though; I’m not going to run off with it! :D)
You must mention whether your story is NSFW or includes sensitive themes, gore/violence, etc. Give your story an age rating if necessary!
Sharing your story:
Upload your story to your preferred service then share the URL. Post the link on your social media accounts and include the hashtag #RangenWritingChallenge, so the world can read your story! Don’t forget to tag me!
