As we enter September again, the focus is on experience; new experience for those heading to school, either to a new grade, a new school, or for some, their very first day. For others, the end of the summer holidays brings a return to work or university; something they are already experienced with.
Translating this over to our creative work, we can either focus on characters that are newbies, or characters that are veterans… Here’s the September Writing Challenge!
The challenge is to write a short story or chapter of at least 10,000 words before the end of the month.
The challenge this time around is to write about your character facing one of the following situations:
- Meeting someone for the first time using the First Encounter Gen, and how they handle the events that follow,
- Weary and battle hardened, or uncertain and barely prepared, they finally approach the antagonist’s Villainous Abode, ready for a showdown, or
- Super Powers in hand, they try to come to grips with them as a new user, or expertly use them to resolve an issue.
You may use any of the other generators to add extra elements to your scene or story, but 1 of the 3 mentioned above should be the main focus.
You can write as many stories as you wish in any genres that you choose.
Send links to your stories to RanGen on Twitter and Facebook.
Or if you prefer, you can email your stories to RanGen HERE (please don’t send them as attachments; put the story in the body of the email), and write your name (it doesn’t need to be your real name) and “September Writing Challenge” in the subject line. If you’re having trouble sending long stories in one email, split it in two and clearly mark both as part 1 and part 2. Alternatively, you can create a free account on Wattpad and submit your stories there. Don’t forget to send me the link!
Be sure to include with your story the results of all the generators!
