It’s a brand new year, so let’s get started with our brand-new journey!
The objective of the challenge is to use the Journey Gen and turn the results into a short story of at least 10,000 words before the end of the month.
The challenge specifications are as follows:
- Set Travel Method to anything in the Leg Powered, Land or Sea vehicles section.
- Set the Distance to at least 1,500m or 2,500km
- Set the Delay Intensity to at least Medium
With these settings, can you write a story based on your results?
How does your journey go? Is it a steady, peaceful process that gives you and/or your companions time to reflect and take in the sights and the experience, or is it a long, difficult trip full of pain, difficulty and loss? Do you make it it good time, or does it end up dragging on and on and on…
You can use any other Gen that you like to add to your story, be it people, objects, locations and events.
Submitting your story:
Be sure to include the generated results where possible so that we can see what you were working with. Please include a name with your story (real or a username) and age (or age range), and let me know if you’re happy for me to share/quote your story. (Your story belongs to you though; I’m not going to run off with it! :D)
You must mention if your story is NSFW or if it includes sensitive themes or gore/violence, etc. Give your story an age rating if necessary!
Sharing your story:
Upload your story to your preferred service then share the URL. Post the link on your social media accounts and include the hashtag #RangenWritingChallenge, so the world can read your story! Don’t forget to tag me!

Or, use content-sharing sites like Wattpad, Tumblr, Commaful if you’d like to upload AND share with the world at the same time.
Don’t have a social media account?
