RanGen’s latest transformation is now complete with a few more new additions to the site, additions I hope to keep adding to in the near future:
Check out the Writing Challenges link to see what challenges are currently running.
Useful Resources houses links to other sites containing generators, writing blogs and tips, and useful programs and tools.
Recommendations is where I will be highlighting different books from Amazon on the subject of writing and how to become a great storyteller in the hopes that you will find them as useful as I did.
Now that this little update and spring clean is out of the way, I can once again focus on Gens, updating the old and releasing the new. I still have a couple in the works, and a whole list of others I plan to work on after that… In the meantime, keep an eye out for updates and let me know if you have any suggestions or spot broken Gens via email or Twitter.
Ever feel that the writing prompts you get are too easy, boring or useless? Do they fail to provide you with a real challenge?
Or on the other hand, perhaps you think that you do pretty well with the prompts you get and can write a great story?
In both cases, you should check out Impossible Words by Hope McCain; Hope will show you what a REAL prompt challenge is like. Periodically, Hope challenges herself to write a short story 500 words or less using a unique criteria, and she and manages to write pretty impressive short stories with surprisingly difficult prompts. It will definitely make you consider what you can do when you put your mind to it and really push your creativity. For those of you who struggle to write using much easier challenges, now is the time to step up your game!
